Best Encryption Method
There are different types of encryption available for people looking to protect their data. Finding the best encryption for a particular person or computer is a matter of weighing the pros and cons of each type.
Manual encryption describes computer programs that are installed on a computer as software. These programs can encrypt information on the computer. However, manual encryption requires the participation of the user. This is a good choice for personal computers as it allows encryption of specific files, but this system is not good for people who need to encrypt a large amount of files.
Another option is transparent encryption. This, like manual encryption, is software-based. Transparent encryption software can be downloaded onto a home computer. Every file on the computer is encrypted and the software is very secure. However, there is not as much customisation available with this option as there is with manual encryption software.
Determining the best encryption does not always involve software, though. Symmetric encryption is a method that people can do by themselves. In symmetric encryption, a letter or number coincides with another letter or number, and the original word is replaced by a code. People can even make up their own codes.
Asymmetric encryption is similar. However, it is done on data that the user is receiving. The user has a key to the encryption that can be given out to whomever that person would like to share it with. The receiver of the key can also encrypt the information and send it back with a different key. However, the information can only be read by whoever currently has the key.
